RCIA (Rite of Catholic Initiation for Adults) is the process by which adults are received into the church. Catechumens (those never Baptized) journey through the process until they celebrate the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil, followed by a short periods of enrichment.
Candidates (those Baptized into another Christian Church) who wish to be received into full communion with the Catholic Church also participate in the process, but are not usually re-baptized.
Baptized Catholics who are in need of the sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation are involved in the process.
